AWASH IN A SEA OF WORDS

We are inundated in a surging sea of messages. Whatever the medium, words flow over and around us, rearranging our setting in their ebb and flow. Some nudge us a little, shifting our perspective just the tiniest bit. Others hammer us, threatening to crush us, and yet, for all their foam and fury, they drain away, their power spent, leaving us shaken, perhaps, yet it is they, not we, who flee. Spoken or written, some messages stir us. They pulse through our frame. They resonate in our meditations, emotions and our volition. They cause our spirits to soar. These we store up as treasures, as memories, as old friends to be visited often.

Wisdom is the main thing; get wisdom, and with all your getting, get understanding.

Proverbs 4:7

The flame of intellect is fueled by the printed page.

In prose or poetry, the soul leaves its footprints on paper, etching a pathway that others will follow. Some paths are treacherous, leading into dangerous and destructive ground. Others are polluted, fouled by the very steps that created them. In taking his pencil in hand, Michael Leamy endeavors to trace a clean pathway that is both honoring and satisfying.
